Former WWE Announcer Jerry Soto Returning To Company

WWE found a void in their Spanish commentary team. 29-year veteran Carlos Cabrera was released to the surprise of many fans. Cabrera had been a staple on WWE television in Spanish-speaking markets for decades.

The search for a replacement didn’t last long. WWE has gone to a familiar face to take over for Cabrera. Former WWE employee Jerry Soto will be taking over duties with the Spanish commentary team.

Soto announced his return in an Instagram post. Jerry Soto will join Marcelo Rodriguez at the booth going forward. Soto was released by WWE during the November 2020 budget cuts. A Google translation of his post notes that Soto is excited to make his return.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE wanted to go with someone younger. That matches the same trend the company is going for with wrestling talent. The WWE youth movement continues to gain momentum. Jerry Soto is looking to fit that bill as the newest addition to the WWE commentary team.
