He has also written books geared towards community impact, namelyBarefoot Church: Serving the Least in a Consumer CultureandThe Justice Primer: An 8-Week Guide to Social Impact.

Brandon Hatmaker is also a philanthropist and has over two decades of experience working in non-profit spaces. He is now the co-founder of The Legacy Collective. The Legacy Collective is a giving community of individuals who contribute specific small sums of money monthly. The money is pulled together to support worthy causes. Since coming into existence, The Legacy Collective has raised more than $5 million, which they have disbursed to 88 non-profits across four continents and 15 cause areas.

Not many details exist about the early days of the romance between Brandon Hatmaker and Jen Hatmaker, but it is known that they wed in 1993. They settled down in Texas and focused on propagating their Christian ministry. They also went on to welcome kids. Their first child, a son named Gavin, was born on the 9th of April 1998, while their second child, a daughter named Sydney Beth, was born in May 2000. The couple’s third child, Caleb, was born in June 2002.

Asides from their biological kids, Brandon and Jen Hatmaker also adopted two children from Ethiopia in 2011. The first child they adopted is a daughter named Remy, who was born in January 2006. She was five years old when they adopted her. The second child they adopted was a son named Ben. He was born on the 7th of August 2003, and they adopted him when he was eight years old.

The marriage between Brandon Hatmaker and Jen Hatmaker lasted for 27 years, during which they thrived in both their family life and professional life. They made a wonderful home for their kids in Buda, Texas, and enrolled them in local schools. They also flourished in their respective careers as pastors and public speakers etc.

Jen, in particular, became a very popular blogger. In 2015, HGTV invited her and the entire family to participate in a home renovation show of their own titledMy Big Family Renovation. The series featured them selling their home and buying an upper fixer. It was quite successful and led to spin-off series where the couple helped other large-size families to maximize their space.

Brandon and Jen Hatmaker had it all going for them, but signs of trouble emerged when they asked people to pray for them as they were struggling with a crisis in mid-2020. It seems the prayers didn’t do much work as they filed for divorce in August 2020.

Jen subsequently released a lengthy statement on her Instagram in which she stated that she was shocked, grief-stricken, and broken-hearted. She asked for respect for their privacy and asked people not to pry, ask or push even if out of sincere concern.

Despite this passionate plea, people have been speculating on what caused the couple’s divorce, and the easy answer is that someone must have had an affair. However, there is nothing to show that Brandon Hatmaker had an affair or his ex-wife, for that matter.

Together with his ex-wife, Brandon Hatmaker founded the New Austin Church in Texas. The church is not only committed to preaching the word of God but is also heavily invested in performing philanthropic activities for its local community. From its humble beginnings, the New Austin Church has spread to other cities in and outside Texas. Sadly, Brandon Hatmaker resigned from the church around 2020 following his whole divorce saga from his wife.

Brandon and Jen remain their kids’ biggest cheerleaders and support them no matter what.  For instance, when their daughter, Stephanie, came out as gay, it made them reassess their Christian stance on homosexuality, and they have wholeheartedly supported the gay community since then.
